On this first edition of The LINK Online of 2014 I’m all alone – Lynn and Marc are on holidays – but we’ve got plenty of interesting stories to share.
First off, a review of some of the top stories in Canada over the past year, including the so-called Senate spending scandal, a terrible fatal train disaster, and Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield’s amazing few months as commander of the International Space Station.
At the start of the New Year, an Ottawa think tank reported that within the year’s first four workday hours top CEOs made what the average Canadian earns in an entire year, that 171 times more.

With the freezing temperatures (even for us Canadians) these past few days, Carmel Kilkenny will tell us how the ministries of Environment and Health are teaming together to give better warnings to Canadians about how cold it really is.
And our sports broadcaster Terry Haig talks to sportswriter and author Bruce Dowbiggin about some major sports stories.
Next week Lynn Desjardins and Marc Montgomery are back, in the meantime, a very Happy New Year from all of us at RCI.
