Toronto International Film Festival opens with David Dobkin’s ‘The Judge’

The hugely popular Toronto International Film Festival is opening its 2014 edition with David Dobkin’s film The Judge on Thursday, September 4. The film includes actors Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, and Billy Bob Thornton.

“I brought my first film, Clay Pigeons, to Toronto, so 15 years later to actually be on opening night with The Judge is incredibly special and thrilling,” Dobkin stated in a press release from the organizers. “The Festival audiences are terrific, and I know I speak for everyone involved in the film when I say we are so pleased to be unveiling it there.”

In addition to the high profile films at the festival organizers have also prepared a selection of 39 first and second feature films made by filmmakers from Canada and around the world in the Discovery programme, including filmmakers from Pakistan, Vietnam, Kurdistan, Kenya, Ukraine, Brazil, and Spain.

On September 13, Alan Rickman’s A Little Chaos will close the festival. Its stars include Kate Winslet, Matthias Schoenaerts, Alan Rickman and Stanley Tucci.
