TIFF star power continues

TIFF continues for another week, with street cars re-routed to accommodate the red carpets. But everyone is having a good time, enjoying the great movies and documentaries, and the opportunity to star-gaze or encounter idols of long-standing.

Keith Richards, and wife Patti Hansen were in town yesterday for the world premier of “Keith Richards: Under the Influence”.  The film documents the making of his solo album, “Crosseyed Heart”, his first in 23 years, which was released yesterday as well.

The Rolling Stones’ 71 year-old guitarist, looking every bit the rock star, took the opportunity to announce an upcoming new album by the legendary rock n’ roll band.

“I do feel the Rolling Stones are still, in some way, finding themselves,”

In an interview with reporters yesterday Richards said “I do feel the Rolling Stones are still, in some way, finding themselves,”

“There’s a lot excitement in the band. You think you’ve peaked somewhere but as a band, musically within the band, I think there’s a feeling of ‘There’s more in there yet.’ There’s more to find out about music and about the Rolling Stones and probably about ourselves and so you’re kind of driven to do it.”

This is the 40th anniversary of TIFF, the festival that helped put Toronto on the global map. We’ll talk to one of the organizers to hear how this year’s celebration measured up.
