BeDevil Oilfield Services in the hot seat over billboard.

BeDevil Oilfield Services, is becoming known coast to coast to coast in Canada today. The company’s controversial billboard has offended several women for the misogynistic image the company claims has “nothing to do with women and violence”.

“We drill them to hell and back.”

Some women, posting on facebook, are objecting to the connection between the image, of a near naked woman, and the motto, “We drill them to hell and back”.

Georgina Lawrence said the company should be ashamed, and she wants the sign taken down. Faye Hamilton says it conveys the wrong message about violence against women. But company owner, Dan McRae, says he can’t understand why people are upset.

CBC News spoke with McRae who said he has received complaints, with some people even calling the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The police assured McRae the bilboard does not break any laws.

“It has nothing to do with women and violence,” McRae said. “I would stick up for any woman anytime in a situation like that. We do not believe in that. There is more nudity on a Victoria Secret catalog than you’ll ever find on mine. And they don’t knock them down.”

BeDevil is a family-owned company in operation since 1996 that provides “red-hot” oilfield services and equipment in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia.

McRae says he will not alter the billboard as he says it’s working, garnering a lot of attention when oilfield companies need all the work they can find.
