The world’s youngest country, South Sudan, is celebrating its fifth anniversary Saturday.
However, it’s not a joyous occasion in the country.
Two years of conflict have left the country on the verge of economic collapse, political instability, and with a huge percentage of the population with little to no food.
International humanitarian aid groups are warning of a looming disaster.
Levon spoke with Jacquelyn Wright, the vice-president of international programmes at Care Canada, one of the several groups sounding the alarm about the ever worsening humanitarian situation in South Sudan.

It’s billed as “the greatest outdoor show on Earth”, and that’s not hyperbole!
Well over a million visitors a year take part in this ten-day spectacle of western action, colour, music, and excitement. It is arguably the biggest national and international events in Canada.
Organizers say thousands of the visitors come from the United States, Germany, and Australia with many more from countries around the world.
There are a huge variety of attractions including many major musical stars, traditional western and pioneer skills demonstrations, aboriginal culture, midway rides, foods, games, fireworks and more
Of course the whole festival centres on the rodeo events, which provide the biggest rodeo prize money in the world. These events include bucking broncos, bull riding, barrel racing, cowboy shooting, and of course the chuck wagon races among others.
Marc spoke to Jennifer Booth, public relations manager for the Calgary Stampede

He’s a cute English Springer Spaniel. The thing is “Angus” is a very very special springer spaniel.
The 2-year-old has been trained to perform a very serious and potentially life-saving job.
Trainer Teresa Zerburg has taught the dog to detect pockets of the sometimes deadly virus ‘C-difficile’ that afflicted over 37.000 Canadians last year alone.
She and Angus will be working with Vancouver Coastal Health to detect the virus in the facility so it can be disinfected early before it can cause problems
Carmel spoke with the Regional Medical Director of Infection Control, Dr. Elizabeth Bryce.
