Russia eyes record cargo volumes on Northern Sea Route this year

Cargo volumes carried via the Northern Sea Route are expected to exceed 40 million tonnes by the end of the year, a record level, the head of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom said on Thursday.
Boosting commerce via the Arctic route is a strategic priority for Russia as it shifts its trade eastwards after European and other western countries hit it with waves of
sanctions over its war in Ukraine.
