Nunavut RCMP now investigating August death as homicide

Nunavut RCMP now say they’re treating the death of a man in Iqaluit last August as a homicide.

Mosesie ‘Levi’ Pishuktie, 35, died after first responders found him suffering from “serious injuries” in a home on Tasilik Street on August 16, 2025, police said in a news release.

He was first taken to Qikiqtani General Hospital before being flown by medevac to Ottawa. Nine days later, RCMP said, Pishuktie died of his injuries, police said.

The RCMP’s Major Crime Unit is now investigating.

Police did not release any other details about the incident.
