Opposition MPs attack government over ‘unfair’ election bill

Listen

After a week away from Parliament Hill, opposition MPs were once again attacking the Conservative government of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his Democratic Reform Minister of State Pierre Poilievre on Monday (March 24) over what the opposition calls the government’s “unfair’ elections act.

The proposed legislation is supposed to eliminate fraud, and tighten up controls. But the opposition MPs, including Official Opposition NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair, say the proposed legislation will allow more undocumented election spending, and take the right to vote away from some Canadians.
