Western Star is the sixth album from Albertan Tim Hus and his third for Stony Plain Records. He continues his tradtion of Canadian themed country songs about people places and history, some fun, some introspective, an 100% entertaining.

Country singer songwriter Tim Hus

He sings about lumberjacks, truck driving, train drivers, small towns, and colourful characters. just like many country singers.

Tim Hus from Alberta is different, his songs all have a very Canadian flavour. Whereas most country performers, even a lot of Canadian ones, talk about Tennessee, and Georgia, Texas, Kentucky and so on, Tim talks about Ontario, Nova Scotia, Alberta, the Yukon and all places in between.

His latest album Western Star, features Tim in full length buckskin leather coat with a full wolf collar and trim. Perhaps not politically correct, but Hus is not one to follow fads or convention.  He travels back and forth across the country playing major concerts and small town barbeque’s and this is where he gets his inspiration for his songs.

On this album the title track describes a trucker driving across Ontario along the trans Canada highway, the 401 in Ontario. and past all the towns and cities, place names Canadians instantly recognize,  Another fun song talks about a guy who says he’sthe best fisherman around, Master Caster, while another much more introspective talks about the Canadian merchantmen sailing in convoys across the Atlantic to supply the war effort and protected from wolf pack U-boats by the Canadian flower-class Corvettes.

Whatever the theme, Tim Hus is always entertaining. I hope you enjoy this encore conversation with a true country star.
