Aaron Yoon, a friend of two young Canadians involved in the terrorist attack on an Algerian gas plant was studying at a religious school in Mauritania before he was arrested. Yoon is now imprisoned in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania. He is not believed to have had a role in the January attack. He did travel to Africa with Ali Medlej and Xris Katsiroubas who were found dead at the gas plant.

Yoon was reportedly studying the Qur’an at the religious school along with some Americans and Europeans. He was visited in prison by a representativefrom the Canadian embassy in Morocco and is said to be in good condition.
