Canadian teen wins science prize for cancer research

16 year-old Arjun Nair has won top honours in the Sanofi BioGeneius Challenge Canada science contest.  The Alberta teen advanced a way to treat cancer cells with heat using nanoparticles. Judges said his research was of “world class masters or PhD-level quality.

“I’m still in a state of shock,” Nair said after receiving the award. “I’m just really, really honoured.”

Nair gets $5,000 as a prize. He says he wants to be a doctor and to continue in research at the same time.
