Canadian music awards honour top talent

Juno awards were handed out to Carly Rae Jepsen for her earworm  Call Me Maybe as well as her album Kiss. She beat out Justin Bieber in the two categories—ironic since he was the one who brought her to the attention of his record label. She thanked him publicly at the ceremony.

Bieber did take the Fan Choice award, though he was not there to accept it.

Leonard Cohen nabbed Artist of the Year. Here are the top winners:

  • Best album: Kiss, Carly Rae Jepsen
  • Best single: Call me Maybe, Carly Rae Jepsen
  • Fan Choice Award: Justin Bieber
  • Artist of the year: Leonard Cohen
  • Best adult alternative album: Harmony, Serena Ryder
  • Best rock album: Clockwork Angels, Rush
  • Best international album: Babel, Mumford & Sons
  • Breakthrough artist: The Weeknd
  • Rap recording: Inner Ninja ft. David Myles, Classified
  • Best DVD: Bobcaygeon, The Tragically Hip

  • Solo or chamber ensemble: Levant, Amici Chamber Ensemble
  • Large Ensemble or Soloist(s) with Large Ensemble Accompaniment: Tchaikovsky:violin concerto, James Ehnes
  • Vocal or choral performance: Prima Donna, Karina Gauvin
