Two giant pandas on loan from China meet selected visitors at the Toronto Zoo today before going on public display Saturday. Zoo members and the media will meet five-year-old Er Shun and her prospective mate, four-year-old Da Mao.
China lent the pandas to send a diplomatic message that ties between the two countries are stable and continue to strengthen.
The pair will be on display at the Toronto Zoo for five years and then will move on to the Calgary Zoo in the western province of Alberta. it has announced a major redesign to house them.
