What kind of home $380,555 buys in Canada

The average price of a home in Canada rose 1.3 percent in April 2013 as compared to the year before. And just what do you get for $380,555? It depends on where you are looking.

A random sampling of properties was examined by the public broadcaster, CBC. You can access the website and choose two Canadian cities to compare what the price can fetch.

In Montreal you could, for example, get condo built in 1900 measuring 970 square feet with one bedroom, one bathroom’

In Vancouver, the sum would buy a condo built in 2008 measuring 480 square feet with one bedroom, one bathroom.

Newer construction is not necessarily a good thing. Older buildings are often more sturdy.
