‘The Book of Negroes’, also known as ‘Someone Knows My Name’ in the United States and other places, is going into production as a TV series. It will air on Canada’s CBC and the American network BET.
Writer Lawrence Hill won several honours for his 2007 novel, including the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize. He is co-writing the screen adaptation.
The producers announced the Canada-South Africa co-production this week from the Banff World Media Festival. Filming will begin in South Africa this fall.
