The Book of Negroes becoming a TV series

‘The Book of Negroes’, also known as ‘Someone Knows My Name’ in the United States and other places, is going into production as a TV series.  It will air on Canada’s CBC and the American network BET.

Writer Lawrence Hill won several honours for his 2007 novel, including the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize.  He is co-writing the screen adaptation.

The producers announced the Canada-South Africa co-production this week from the Banff World Media Festival.  Filming will begin in South Africa this fall.
