Labour disruptions by foreign service officers will delay waiting times for visa processing at Canadian missions in some countries, affirmed the government on Tuesday. Diplomats at some missions have been instructed by their union to walk off the job due to stalled contract negotiations.
“Anyone applying for a visa should anticipate delays,” says a new posting on the web page of the Department of Citizenship and Immigration. However it adds that urgent humanitarian applications will be treated as a priority.
Missions in London, Paris, Mexico City, Tel Aviv, Ramallah, Dublin, Hong Kong, and the European Union were without the foreign service officers as of Tuesday.
Immigration officers were off work in Beijing, Shanghai, Delhi and Chandigarh.
