Elections Canada appears to have left out certain files about election campaign spending by conservative Member of Parliament Eve Adams when it answered a request for information from the public broadcaster, CBC.
After every federal election in Canada, candidates are required to report details of what they spent during the campaign. This information is available to anyone who requests it.
Some MPs have been arguing with Revenue Canada about the expenses they claimed in the campaign two years ago so CBC requested the file. The broadcaster says it is “clear that some correspondence was missing.”
This is disturbing news for the conservative party in power which is already embroiled in a scandal involving irregular expense claims by three of its senators.
