Orange Lobster

A blue lobster may be a sight to behold, but an orange one, is the most unusual.

Orange lobsters are one in 10 million, compared to one in 5 million for blue lobsters, according to Canada’s Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries.

Last Friday, this big orange crustacean was trapped in the Bay of Fundy between the provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Now it is the pride of the Alma Lobster Shop on the New Brunswick shore of the Bay.  The orange colour is due to a genetic defect.

A blue lobster was caught off the coast of Antigonish, Nova Scotia earlier this month.
