Graham DeLaet debuts at British Open

Graham DeLaet, the pride of Weyburn, Saskatchewan is living his dream this week, playing in a major.  He’s at Muirfield in Scotland playing in the British Open, golf’s most widely revered title.

The 31 year-old, ranked 65th in the world, was in Saskatoon last week playing in an event to raise money for Golf Saskatchewan, a charity to encourage and support young golfers in the province.

Graham DeLaet’s success has made him a hero to many young kids in Saskatchewan who are out on the links following in his footsteps.

DeLaet said he received a lot of support from the organization in his early days and he says he wants to help to grow the game.  In an interview with a local radio station, DeLaet said, “The best way to do that is to get kids involved and teach them the proper etiquette and honesty, integrity and the great things that golf teaches.”
