Ryan Cochrane, of Victoria, British Columbia, won the bronze medal in the men’s 800 metre freestyle event at the FINA world swimming championships in Barcelona, Spain today. He later tweeted: “That 8 was an interesting one and I’m happy to have been able to get that bronze for Canada!”
He beat American swimmer, Connor Jaeger by 0.56 seconds to take his place on the podium. He was just one-tenth of a second behind American Michael McBroome who took the silver with a time of 7:43:60
