Women’s ID stolen for prescription drugs

Two sisters in western Canada are outraged that their identities were used by someone to fill 260 prescriptions for the highly addictive narcotic Oxycodone over a five-year period. Illicit use of this drug by addicts has been a spiraling problem in several communities across Canada.

“I want the doctors held accountable and I want the pharmacists held accountable — and I want them to start red flagging stuff like this when it comes up,” said Sandra Adamson of Surrey, British Columbia.

The prescriptions were written by several physicians and then filled at several different pharmacies. The cost to the publicly-funded drug plan and health plan is estimated to have been $30,000.
