It is a famous traditional fair dating back to 1922. Held every autum to celebrate the harvest, it starts today and runs until the 10thof November

Eagerly awaited by both those in the agricultural field and people attracted to the multitude of events, it annually sees over 350-thousand visitors. It also attracts international competitors, manufacturers, and livestock buyers.
Some 187 trophies will be handed out during the Fair to winners in the huge variety of events from animal judging, to rodeo riding, While some of these trophies are topped with little reproductions of sheep or chickens or horses,the oldest dates back to the Fair’s origins of 1922.

It’s silver-plated and looks a bit like the Stanley Cup Hockey trophy, Its called the Championship Clydesdale Cup and was donated by the Manitoba Department of Agriculture.
One of the most sought after is a bronzed Trilby-like hat, the Curtis Clark award, for highest achievement in dairy farming.
It originally belonged to the Alberta dairy farmer and highly respected breeder of Holsteins. Donated in 1988 by the Alberta Branch of Holstein Canada, the winner is voted in by other dairy farmers.

There are also entertainment shows from acrobats to rock bands, to the pipes and drums, along with produce displays where people can buy fresh vegetables, fruit, jams, cheeses, maple syrup ans other products directly from the producers.
There are technology displays, equipment and machinery displays, cooking demonstrations, pet competitions, actual farm animal auctions,show jumping and equestrian competitions, and of course lots of local foods and drink, including fine Ontario wines.
All of this makes it the biggest such event of its kind in Canada.
