Canada's national radio and television public broadcaster CBC has announced it has hired retired Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield's to contribute his 'unique perspective' to the network's flagship TV news show.

Retired astronaut’s new job, broadcast news and views contributor

Retired Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, who last year was the first Canadian to command the International Space Station (ISS) and captivated millions around the globe with his Twitter and Facebook observations from space, will now share his views in news programs at Canada’s national radio and television public broadcaster, CBC.

In a press statement Friday (January 17) CBC said Hadfield “will offer regular contributions to CBC News. He will bring his insights on pressing issues using his unique perspective from an inspired and exciting career and life.”

Hadfield will debut on January 20 on the flagship CBC evening newscast THE NATIONAL and CBC Radio One. The statement says “In a segment focusing on the Olympics, Col. Hadfield will draw from his own experiences and explore what it takes to be at the top of your game and achieve ultimate success.”
