Paris police held in Canadian woman’s rape

Paris police officials are fielding questions over the investigation four of its officers face in connection with the alleged rape of a Canadian woman from Toronto.

The 34 year-old woman is believed to be a police officer herself, and the daughter of a police officer.

Reports allege the woman met with the officers, who are members of an anti-gang squad, at a pub Tuesday evening and accompanied them to the unit’s headquarters.

Sources say she left the next morning in distress, telling another officer she had been raped.

Three of the officers in custody are suspected of being directly involved in the assault.  The fourth officer allegedly spoke to the woman after it happened.

Bernard Cazeneuve, France’s Interior Minister, said “all the necessary measures” will be taken if the allegations are true.

The case is in the hands of the France’s police oversight department and DNA testing is under way.
