Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, are enjoying the third, of a four-day visit to Canada. The Duchess of Cornwall and the future King, moved from event to event today, together and separately. They’ll spend 22 hours in the tiny maritime province of Prince Edward Island.
This morning they met with the people of the capital, Charlottetown, who braved the rain to come out and greet the royal couple in three different walkabouts.
They royal couple attended a Youth Parliament in the Legislative Chamber of Prince Edward Island and toured the Confederation Chamber. This is the birthplace of Canada, which will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2017.
There’s an American cruise ship in port, so the tourists are getting a glimpse of royalty as well. Prince Charles has not visited the island since 1983, and it is a first visit for his wife Camilla.
Later in the afternoon, while Camilla visited Prince Edward Home, Charlottetown’s newest seniors’ residence, Charles met with members of the Canadian Institute of Forestry at Government House and was taken on a walk in Bonshaw Provincial Park.
They fly to Winnipeg, Manitoba this evening for the last stop on this visit.
