Humans and horses have evolved over millennia alongside each other.

Horses have a special place in most people’s hearts, and without them, survival in many cases would not have been possible.
However, the bonds go much much deeper than that of being a simple beast of burden.
Its definitely a love affair.
Western Canadian artist Adeline Halvorson loves horses and it shows in her work, particularly in her love of draught horses, the big muscular animals with their complicated, often elebaroate and decorative harnessing.
But as anyone who knows horses also knows that they are all very expressive and all have their own particular character.
She says that in order to capture that inner spirit, one really has to have an intimate knowledge of these animals.
Whether working in oils or acrylics, Halvorson’s familiarity with horses and in the environment, the western Canadian farms and ranches, and the fields and prairies where they are found, has helped her to capture the very individual spirit and thought of these beautiful animals.
As a tribute to her skill, she was chosen for the prestigious honour of having her work selected as the poster art for the world famous Calgary Stampede this year
She was also awarded the outstanding artistic achievement award at the Western art auction.
While her work is primarily of equine subjects, she also loves dogs, donkeys, and indeed branches out wonderfully into other western themes as well.
