Who can gather the greatest number of tacky Christmas sweater wearers?
A few decades ago, grandmothers (mostly) would lovingly knit Christmas sweaters for the men in their families (mostly); husbands, sons, grandsons.

They would have scenes of snowmen, or snow flakes, snowy winter scenes, or Christmas trees, or candy canes, or elves, or anything with a Christmas theme, all naturally very colourful.
In the last few years, the concept of the tacky Christmas sweater (often called “ugly Christmas sweaters”, though I fail to see why). Has caught on.

Recently a group in Dublin Ireland set a Guiness Record for the most Christmas sweater wearers gathered in one spot, 1,298.
A community charity in Fredericton, New Brunswick in eastern Canada, hopes to beat that record.
Tim Sharpe, marketing co-ordinator for the non-profit Community Kit

chen says sweaters and jumpers are allowed, but not vests.
“To be eligible for our event, it has to depict a traditional Christmas theme, character or item such as say jingle bells, holly and mistletoe”, he says.
The effort is also a fund raiser with participants donating $5.
He says so far it looks like they might get over 1,500 people for the event set to take place at the Capital Exhibition Centre this Saturday.
Meanwhile the whole idea of the ugly Christmas sweater has become a huge fad, with stores and online sites selling these items exclusively.
