Vancouver company will send hi-def images from space station

A Canadian company will soon be joining NASA in space.

Vancouver-based UrtheCast Corporation will help send out live, high definition video of Earth taken from the International Space Station.

The company’s website will distribute real-time video taken by four cameras located on a European Space Agency module on the ISS within a few months.

The company’s CEO, Scott Larson, says UrtheCast will provide a view of the earth that he called “breathtaking and inspiring.”

UrtheCast has already built and installed a still camera and a high-definition video camera on the Russian section of the space station.

The video camera is expected to begin streaming this summer. The full-colour still camera is already in operation.
