Olympic Rings rise over Montreal

The International Olympic Committee has loosened the rules governing its trademarked logo so it can be used now at the opening of Canada’s new ‘Olympic House’.

Opening on July 9th, the day before the Pan Am Games get under way in Toronto, we’ll hear more about what the new Olympic venue will feature in Montreal, the first North American city to host the Olympics almost 40 years ago.

Thomas Bach, the new head of the International Olympic Committee, will be in Montreal for the celebration, and he will get to visit the scene of his Olympic victory in 1976. Thomas Back won gold in fencing (team foil) for Germany.

Nadia Comaneci will also be here for the occasion. Comaneci stunned the world in 1976 with her perfect score in gymnastics.
