Canadian mining company announces big diamond find

Lucara Diamond Corp. announced it has found three large gem quality diamonds at its Karowe Mine in Botswana.  The president of the company, based in the western city of Vancouver, said he was at a loss for words and his company was “truly blessed by this amazing asset.”

Of three stones, the largest is a 1,111-carat diamond measuring 65 mm by 56mm by 40 and is said to be the second largest ever mined. Two other white diamonds were found; an 813 carat stone and another measuring 374 carats. The larger is said to be the sixth largest gem quality diamond ever mined.
