Bubble clouds after the storm in Saskatchewan

Bubble clouds delighted people Sunday evening following wicked storms in the west-central region of the province.

The light of the setting son, that came out following a rain storm that left bubble clouds in its wake, had many people taking to twitter to comment and share the spectacle.

Known scientifically as mammatocumulus, or mammatus, these mammary clouds, or bubble clouds are relatively rare.

Generally they’re only stable for a few minutes, forming distinct boundaries that create rounded shapes.

In Kindersley, Saskatchewan, the clouds, painted in red and purple by the setting sun, had a lot of people trying to capture the sight.

They may have been nature’s reward following a holiday weekend that included, fierce winds, at least one tornado, and hail the size of golf-balls!
