Distracted driving: new fines and penalties for Ontario

Distracted driving, the term now used to describe drivers who continue to text and, or use their cell phone while at the wheel.

A steady increase of fatalities in Ontario cities, has the provincial government making changes to reflect these new realities.

And the lobbying efforts of activists, such as Friends and Families for Safe Streets, many of whom have lost loved-ones to distracted driving, are resulting in changes.

We’ll talk to one person who says the time has come, for new laws and more severe penalties, but the challenge remains in how to convince drivers of the terrible chances they take.
