Sweden to be Global Climate Change Leader: Carlgren

Sweden is to be a world leader in the fight against climate change following the next election, according to Environment Minister Andreas Carlgren, who wants to put pressure on countries like the USA and China.

Carlgren wants to start a “Forerunners Climate Coalition” with other climate-change conscious nations.

Writing in the daily Dagens Nyheter, he claims Sweden will show how a industrialised hi-tech country can develop a green economy with the lowest climate impact of all industrialised nations.

The minister says he wants half of all energy to come from renewable sources, and cars and lorries to run on alternative fuels.
