End to Canada-Denmark dispute in Arctic?
Is the long-running dispute between Canada and Denmark over the future of Hans Island finally over?
Not really.
But progress on a number of other issues relating to the Arctic maritime border between the two countries seem to have been settled, reports The Copenhagen Post.
Citing Denmark’s public broadcaster DR, The Copenhagen Post reports that Denmark’s foreign minister Villy Søvndal has signed an agreement in Canada concerning fishing rights and oil and mineral exploration in the region.
The two countries also agreed to the placement of a maritime border running 3,000km long.
