Ruling Conservatives release “Seize the Moment’ video of Canadian PM

Canada’s ruling Conservative party has released a short video titled “Seize the Moment” featuring Prime Minister Stephen Harper calling for five dollar contributions, and saying Canada is a country for those who follow the rules.

With stirring music in the background we see the Prime Minister working in his office, as the narrator says: “Seven years ago we set out to rebuild Canada, strong and free.” The Conservatives were first elected to power in 2006.

Later in the video the narrator continues with: “We have proceeded on the conviction that we must live within our means, make sound long-term decisions, and reward those who work hard, and play by the rules.”

The video ends with the caption: “Canada’s Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, Le Premier Ministre du Canada”. The video does not mention, or indicate the source of the video, though it is on the YouTube video account of the Conservative Party www.youtube.com/cpcpcc The text under the video suggests a donation: “Donate $5 today and help us Seize the Moment — we’re counting on you.”

On the Conservative Party’s website the video is featured with a request for a $25 donation (see here) and a reminder: “The election is less than two years away – and the stakes couldn’t possibly be higher.” The next federal election will be in 2015.

The video is “unlisted” which means it will only be found if a person has the web address, but will not be discovered in a web search.
