Police return some of 7,000 pieces of stolen art

Canada’s national police, the RCMP, are touring the eastern province of Nova Scotia returning items stolen by convicted art thief John Tillman.

Tillman is in prison after pleading guilty to 40 charges. Police found 7,000 pieces of pilfered art, artefacts and Nazi memorabilia in his home. Many were stolen in broad day light by Tillman dressed as a workman and simply walking off with them.

‘RCMP Antiques Roadshow’

RCMP Constable Darryl Morgan is now giving the items back to their owners all over eastern Canada and in the United States.

“It’s the RCMP antiques roadshow these days, getting these back to the museums where they belong,” he said, referring to a popular television program.

Police have already returned hundreds of pieces. However there are thousands of items left whose owners have not been identified.
