TIFF line-up for 2014

The 39th Toronto International Film Festival will begin on September 4th and run until September 14th.

Today was the occasion of the big announcement, however, the opening film has yet to be revealed. But we do know that Reese Witherspoon will most likely be in Toronto, as she has two films premiering; The Good Lie, and Wild, both directed by French Canadian directors, Philippe Falardeau and  Jean-Marc Vallée respectively.

The closing-night film will be Alan Rickman’s A Little Chaos, starring Kate Winslet as a landscape architect working on the Versailles gardens at the court of Louis XIV.

David Cronenberg’s latest, Maps to the Stars, will also be screening.  The film received a very warm reception at Cannes earlier this year.

TIFF has developed a reputation as a launching pad for Hollywood and international movies,  This film festival attracts thousands of celebrities, filmmakers and cinephiles to Toronto each year.

Last year the festival attracted 432,000 visitors and an array of stars, including Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Benedict Cumberbatch, Julia Roberts, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Aniston, and Scarlett Johansson to name a few.
