Canadian faces international cyberbullying charges

A 42-year-old Canadian man faces 181 charges related to attacks over internet involving 38 people in Canada, the U.S. and U.K. Police in the nation’s capital, Ottawa, say Robert Campbell will be charged with criminal harassment, defamation and identity fraud.

Eight months of investigation by police departments in all three countries culminated in a search of Campbell’s home on Thursday (July 31) and the seizure of at least three computers and identity-masking software.

Multiple aliases were used in the alleged attacks. The victims include men, women and their families, say police.

Canadian police have paid more attention to cybercrimes following several suicides related to internet harassment that have horrified the public in recent years.
