Eugenie Bouchard, Canada’s female tennis sensation, captured another title from the WTA. Earlier this week she was named the most improved player of the year.
From Westmount, a city within Montreal, Quebec, ‘Bouchard’s Special Season’ is featured on the WTA’s site acknowledging the amazing year she experienced.
“I look forward to continuing to improve.”
Bouchard, now 20, played the semifinals in three of the four Grand Slams and made it all the way to the final at Wimbledon in July.
Rising as high as No. 5 in the world rankings this season, Bouchard qualified for the WTA Finals.
“My goal is to try to improve every single day, and I feel like I did that this year,” Bouchard said in a statement. “But while I’m proud of my accomplishments, I’ve already set new goals I want to strive to reach next year.
Bouchard earned US$3.22 million in prize money this season and had a 45-23 singles record.
Currently ranked No. 7, Bouchard defeated Karolina Pliskova in Nurnberg, Germany in May, for her first career WTA title.
