Police in the western city of Winnipeg have investigated seven new cases recently of predators luring children through online gaming. They say they are notified of new cases each month and they think that’s only the tip of the iceberg. It seems kids are reluctant to tell their parents because they are afraid their games might be withdrawn.
A reporter with the public broadcaster, CBC posed as a 13 year-old girl and signed up for a free on-line game. Within minutes she was approached by several individuals and asked sexually explicit questions. Parents are reported to want gaming companies take the initiative to improve safety.
