It will take months and millions of dollars to repair flood damage in cottage country north of Toronto says Mayor Claude Doughty of Huntsville, Ontario. Residents say they have never ever seen waters this high in the Kawartha Lakes area.
Sudden high temperatures caused snow to melt and rivers overflowed their banks. Some permanent residents have evacuated their homes which are flooded. Many people have summer cottages in the area and don’t know whether they are affected.
Seven communities have declared a state of emergency.
