Canadian police and intelligence services will soon hold a news conference to say they have thwarted a major terrorist attack, says the public broadcaster CBC.
Suspects have been arrested in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. They have apparently been under surveillance for more than a year.
The plot had nothing to do with the Boston Marathon attacks or the recent attack on an Algerian gas plant which had involved two Canadians.
