Festival season in Pacific coast city of Vancouver

Canada’s Pacific coast city of Vancouver is in the midst of a whole string of festivals from now until later this summer. Here are just three of them:

From Monday (June 17) until Wednesday, the Spur Festival mixes politics, arts and ideas. Sponsored by the Literary Review of Canada and Diaspora Dialogues, the festival will feature a conversation with playwright David Foon, and a panel discussion on the how Vancouver artists are engaged with and inspired by the Pacific  More details spurfestival.ca.

On Friday, June 21, Make Music Vancouver presents a free, live musical celebration in Yaletown and Gastown. All public spaces become impromptu stages for more than 300 free concerts. More details makemusicvancouver.com.

The Powell Street Festival on August 3 – 4, is an annual celebration of Japanese Canadian arts, culture and heritage.  More details powellstreetfestival.com.
