Porter Airlines, based at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, is a step closer to becoming Canada’s third-largest airline.
Today the regional carrier announced it had signed an interline agreement with Icelandair. The agreement will give passengers access to 20 destinations in Scandinavia, Britain and Continental Europe.
In an interview with Canadian Press, Michael Deluce, Porter’s chief commercial officer said “Icelandair has numerous gateways within our network that passengers can fly from.”
The two airlines share several destinations, including New York-Newark, Washington-Dulles, Boston and Halifax. This would allow a passenger to board a flight in Toronto, a single combined e-ticket in hand, and transfer at one of the connecting points, to continue on to the final destination in Europe, for example.
Air Canada and Westjet are Canada’s two main airlines.
