Stars raise $1.5 million for Alberta flood relief

More than 30,000 people rocked out at a star-studded concert in the western city of Calgary Thursday raising $1.5 million dollars for flood relief. Southern parts of the province of Alberta were ravaged by high water in mid-June.

Nickelback, Tom Cochrane, Randy Bachman, Colin James and Jann Arden were just some of the performers. Calgary’s popular mayor, Naheed Nenshi opened the event by thanking the legions of volunteers who helped in the flood’s aftermath.

The money will go to The Calgary Foundation’s Flood Rebuilding Fund and then will be funnelled to several organizations helping flood victims throughout the affected area.
