Ah, the life of a rock ‘n’ roll superstar. Justin Bieber, the Ontario-born singer who was in Toronto this weekend doing some clubbing, may–or may not–have lost a $40,000 gold chain early Saturday morning at a downtown nightclub.
The alleged incident allegedly began when fellow nightclub patron rushed Mr. Beiber and, in an ensuing melee, caused him to lose the chain.
But Toronto police say they have no record of the scrap at Uniun Nightclub and are not investigating a lost chain. “All we know is what we read on line,” said one officer. “There was no report.”
Efforts to reach Mr. Bieber’s Universal Music representatives were unsuccessful. It remains unclear whether a chain was stolen or lost or whether it has been retrieved.
Earlier Friday, Mr. Bieber teased his nearly 40 million Twitter followers with the elusive message, “Where am I?” and then hours later, around 8 p.m., tweeted a picture of himself on the steps of Stratford’s Avon Theatre, where he had busked before achieving fame. “Remember where you come from,” he wrote.
It’s been a controversy-filled summer for Mr. Bieber. A video showing him apparently urinating in a restaurant’s mop bucket was posted online, marijuana was found on a bus associated with his music tour and he made headlines after his pet monkey was seized by German customs officials.
Mr Bieber is 19.
