Despite a decades old accord among the federal and provincial governments on health care reform, a new report suggests governments’ ‘status quo’ approach is failing Canadians.
Titled “Better health, better care, better value for all – Refocusing health care reform in Canada” the report reviews what has been achieved since accords to improve the health care system were made in 2003.
The report comes from the Health Council of Canada which was set up by the federal government. Councillors are appointed by participating provincial and territorial governments and the government of Canada.
RCI’s Wojtek Gwiazda spoke with Dr. Jack Kitts, the Chair of the Health Council of Canada, about the report and possible solutions to health care reform. He says Canada can, and must, do better.
