Saying its name “is offensive to some, and thus divisive to our community” a youth football team in Ontario will drop the moniker Nepean Redskins and its logo of an aboriginal head.
Native Ojibway musician Ian Campeau had filed a human rights complaint against the team and had been trying to get the team to change its identity for more than two years.
The transition could take several years and cost more than $100,000. Campeau has offered to help fundraise.
