Canadian government ‘infrastructure’ funding for improvements of golf clubhouse

A golf club in the riding of a federal government minister will get “infrastructure” funding to make improvements to its golf clubhouse. The funding is part of the Canadian government’s “Community Infrastructure Development Fund”.

“Our government is pleased to support infrastructure projects across the country, like these enhancements to the Fraser Edmundston Golf Club,” said Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, in a press statement released by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) on Tuesday, November 12.

In the same press statement, the Edmundston mayor Cyrille Simard is quoted as saying the clubhouse improvements will “improve access and allow year-round use” including cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in the winter.

According to the press statement:

The Government of Canada, through ACOA, has provided a contribution of $45,500 under the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund, while the City of Edmundston is providing an equivalent amount under its energy efficiency program.

In Economic Action Plan 2012, the Harper Government announced further support to help communities across the country modernize their infrastructure, committing $150 million over two years for the Fund.
