Two senior government ministers held a press conference Thursday (December 12) in Ottawa to list government achievements in the fall session which ended Tuesday for a six week break..
Canada’s Government House Leader Peter Van Loan, and Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs, emphasized government bills, bills by private member’s and the government’s focus on economic well-being throughout their presentation.
Van Loan downplayed the impact of the ongoing controversy over the so-called Senate spending scandal. The issue involves contested expenses by senators and questions raised about the involvement of the office of Prime Minister Stephen Harper in paying the contested expenses of one government senator.
